Music Research

Jack Chown is a producer / composer based in London.

Infusing vintage synths, guitar pedals, samplers, shakers and vinyl; he specialises in the creation of organic or electronic sounds for adverts and visual media.

Recently, he has composed music for brands such as; Asahi, Adidas, Sony, American Express, Levi’s, Nike and Puma. Documentary projects include Ai Wei Wei at the Royal Academy of Arts (Sky Arts) and Bad Goods : Illicit Trade (Vice Media) and he’s also recently composed short-form content pieces for Vogue, Porsche and Arrival; as well as two short films: As I Live And Breathe (dir. William Hearle) and Another Dead Sailor (dir. Jack Willoughby). 

He graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in music, with his attention drawn to field recording and ethnographic work. Originally a percussionist, he also studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Earlier in his career, he also had stints at Abbey Road and Baltic Studios, where he was fortunate to work alongside producers such as Andrew Wyatt, Kid Harpoon and Stint; and artists such as James Bay, Liam Gallagher and MIA; he is now based out of his own studio in East London.

In 2020, he also launched his own solo project : kiskadee, a collection of bittersweet beats and electronic soundscapes. The project has garnered support from BBC 6music, Complex and Clash.
